How to...

This app was developed by the Organization for Technical Intern Training.

First, sign up as a user.

Choose the language you want to use for studying Japanese.
After you enter your email address and password, and choose your type of work, you will be ready to start.

Now we will tell you everything you need to know about Conversations and Vocabulary.

Conversations

Conversations teaches you expressions used in any job such as greetings and what to say in an emergency, as well as more difficult phrases only used in some workplaces.
For example, let’s take a look at Lesson No. 3, Understanding Signs.
All of the lessons are different, but every lesson has units called CONVERSATION, WORD, SPEECH, PRACTICE, and TEST. The lessons are set so that you start with listening and understanding the conversations, and move on to being able to practice speaking.

1. Before you start studying the conversations and vocabulary, first read the lesson’s GOAL and make sure you understand what you’re going to be able to do.
You can read the goals in the language you chose to learn Japanese in, when you signed up.

2. In CONVERSATION, you learn while listening to people talking.
Each conversation comes with pictures so you can imagine the scene, as you learn. It’s good that you can listen to the voices while you read and understand the conversations to help you actually use them in real-life conversations, even if you are studying alone! There is a quiz at the end of the unit, so you can check right away, to see if you understood the conversation you studied.

3. In WORD, you learn new words. Not only can you learn what the words mean, but you can also listen to how it is said and then record your own voice to check your pronunciation. After you study the words, there is a quiz at the end. You can take it as many times as you like, so keep repeating until you can easily get the meanings right!

4. In SPEECH, you practice saying the expressions you learned in CONVERSATION. First, review by listening to the conversation.
Then, practice speaking while looking at the text. Here, it would be a good idea to mostly practice the part that the working person is saying. Record your own voice to check your pronunciation. At the end, take the quiz to make sure you understand the important parts of the conversation.

5. After you have learned the expressions and words used in the conversations, practice using them yourself, in PRACTICE. Use all the different words and ways to say things that you have learned so far, to add to the number of things you can talk about.

6. Finally, check to see how much of the lesson contents you now understand and remember, in TEST.
TEST has many ways to check your progress, with questions about what words and expressions mean, listening tests, and making sentences by putting words in the correct order.
Keep trying until you pass!

You can start with any UNIT. For example, start by going through the lessons in order, then go back to review and repeat the ones you need most.

Vocabulary

Now let’s take a look at Lesson No. 5, Start working.

You can take a quiz after you look at the words and phrases carefully.
You can memorize the words and phrases by looking at the meanings, listening to the pronunciation, and recording your own voice. The more difficult words and phrases have pictures and explanations attached, making it easy to study even if you are studying by yourself.
For the quiz, choose the best meaning from the four choices. You have 10 seconds to answer each question.
Keep trying until you can answer correctly within the time limit!

After you have answered all the questions, you can check your results. When you make mistakes or have difficulty memorizing words and phrases, add them to your list in My Words. This is very useful for reviewing!

You can find learning materials with the same conversations and vocabulary as this app, on the official Organization for Technical Intern Training (OTIT) website.
